Italian Chili

An Italian twist to an American favorite dish. Serve it over pasta for an Italian chili mac.
1 lb. mild or sweet Italian sausage
1 cup chopped onion
2 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. dried red pepper flakes
2 cans (14.5 oz. each) Contadina® Diced Tomatoes with Roasted Garlic, not drained
1 can (8 oz.) Contadina® Tomato Sauce
1 can (15 oz.) cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
Cooked pasta, optional
Shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese, sour cream, sliced green onion
Brown sausage in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat, if needed.
Add onion, oregano and red pepper flakes. Cook about 3 minutes, or until onion is softened.
Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce and beans. Bring to a simmer; cover and simmer on low heat 10 minutes. Serve with choice of toppings, over pasta, if desired.
